Employability and Progression Assistants

The Careers Service Mentoring and Widening Participation Team is dedicated to supporting the employability of students from backgrounds that are underrepresented at the Univeristy of Leeds. The Employability and Progression Assistants (EPAs) are themselves Leeds graduates.

The EPAs develop and deliver a range of employability skills related resources, workshops and webinars, and offer 1:1 information sessions for Plus Programme students. The team is available to support you to:

  • find out how the Careers Service can guide and advise you, whatever year of study you are in

  • learn more about the range of professional skills webinars and in-person workshops taking place throughout the academic year

  • explore MyCareer, access careers resources, and LinkedIn learning

  • book appointment with a Careers Advisor, and signpost you to specialist information and advice

  • find out about our fantastic mentoring schemes and how you could benefit from a mentor

  • provide information about other opportunities such as study aboard, internships, exclusive Leeds placements or volunteering.

If you are unsure about how and when to apply, what is involved and what the time commitment is, they can help!

As University of Leeds graduates from widening participation backgrounds, the EPAs know firsthand how overwhelming career planning can feel. That’s why they work to support students in similar circumstances with anything that is careers/employability related. To help prepare students to compete in a global job market, the EPAs offer appointments, hold a variety of workshops and events across the academic year, and work closely with other teams to promote exclusive opportunities to targeted cohorts of students.
