Recruitment agencies
Discover a broader range of opportunities by registering with recruitment agencies. These are often used by employers for specialist roles or roles which require previous experience.
Speculative enquiries
Going out of your way to actively seek opportunities – especially when vacancies are not being advertised – is a great way to put yourself ahead of the competition.
For more information, see our pathway on speculative applications or how to write a speculative job application.
Networking
The majority of jobs are not widely advertised. Developing your network and making connections with people working in your desired field will help you tap into the 'hidden' jobs market and discover more opportunities.
As well as attending local or virtual events related to your chosen industry, you can build your confidence and extend your network by signing up for one of our mentoring schemes. You can also take free LinkedIn Learning courses on networking.
Social media
Many companies now use social media channels as a way of finding the best graduates. Networks like LinkedIn, X, Instagram and Facebook can help you keep updated on the latest vacancies, as well as get in contact with those who might be interviewing you.
Remember that it works both ways – employers will almost certainly be checking your online presence before inviting you for an interview.
