The National Student Survey

The National Student Survey (NSS) is now open for final-year undergraduates. It closes on 30 April 2025.

There’s a chance to win some brilliant prizes by taking part.

The survey takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. If you’re not a final-year student, there are other ways to give feedback.

About the NSS

The NSS helps us understand your experience across the whole of your degree. It also helps prospective students choose which university to attend.

The survey is anonymous and is administered by the independent research agency Ipsos. Over half a million students take part each year. The NSS results are public, so it helps to support public accountability.

The University, your school and your programme use NSS data to plan for future years and make changes. Some of the data is also shared nationally by the Office for Students and in league tables.

Why fill out the survey

Student feedback counts. We’ve made changes based on NSS results, such as:

  • extending library hours
  • improving access to personal tutors
  • increasing the number of computers on campus
  • introducing assessment briefs.

How to complete the survey

You may also get an email from Ipsos inviting you to take part. You don’t need to wait for this email. You can complete the survey anytime.
