Student surveys
Help us improve your student experience by telling us what works well and what needs improvement.
Depending on your level of study, you might be asked to complete different surveys at different times of year. These surveys might be about certain parts of your study (like a module or your programme) or about a theme (like sense of belonging or technology).
For all surveys, your feedback should be honest, clear and respectful. Please follow our guidance on how to give constructive feedback.
The National Student Survey (NSS)
This national survey is open for final-year undergraduates to complete between January and April each year.
The NSS helps us understand your experience across the whole of your degree. It also helps prospective students choose which university to attend.
Complete the survey for a chance to win a £25, £100 or £200 voucher. It only takes a few minutes to complete and your responses are anonymous.
The survey is open until midnight on 30 April 2026.
Your feedback makes a difference. We’ve made changes based on NSS results, such as:
- extending library hours
- improving access to personal tutors
- increasing the number of computers on campus
- introducing assessment briefs.

The Undergraduate Programme Survey
Undergraduates who aren’t in their final year of study can complete the Undergraduate Programme Survey (UGPS) between February and April each year. It helps us understand your experience at Leeds so far and make changes for your next year.
The UGPS asks you about things like teaching and learning, assessment and how you are supported academically.
The data is shared with your faculty, school and programme.
Complete the survey for a chance to win a £25, £300 or £500 voucher. It should take less than 10 minutes to complete and your responses are anonymous.
The survey is open until midnight on 30 April 2026.

The Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey
Taught postgraduates can complete the Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey (PTES) between late April and June. The survey is run by Advance HE and helps us improve your student experience. It also shows us how we are doing compared to other UK universities.
The survey asks about many aspects of your experience, including teaching and learning, the support you receive and the skills you are gaining.
The data is shared with your faculty, school and programme.
The Postgraduate Research Experience Survey
Postgraduate researchers can compete the Postgraduate Research Experience Survey (PRES) once every two years. The survey is run by Advance HE and helps us understand how to improve your researcher experience.
The survey asks about a broad range of topics, from supervision, research and professional development to culture, community and support.
Digital experience surveys
You might be asked to complete surveys on your digital experience, such as the Minerva Survey which helps us understand your experiences of Minerva.
Module evaluation
Module evaluation is an opportunity for you to give feedback on a module’s relevance, effectiveness and efficiency.
Your feedback is confidential and helps seminar tutors and programme leaders make changes.
