Study abroad and work placements
Study abroad scholarships
Some study abroad students may be able to apply for a scholarship to help meet the costs of studying overseas.
Calculating the cost of work placements
Whether you thinking about a work placement in the UK or abroad, there are certain costs you should consider before you start your placement.
UK and EU student tuition fees and maintenance loans - eligibility and amounts
If you're a UK or EU student and your course includes a placement year - studying abroad or working, either abroad or in the UK - your funding will change for the year.
Applying for your student loan
You can apply for both a Maintenance Loan to help pay for living costs while studying abroad or on a work placement and a loan for the Tuition Fee.
If you will be on a work or study abroad placement in a European country anytime throughout the 2020-21 or 2021-22 academic year, you may be eligible for an Erasmus+ grant to supplement your student loan. There will not be Erasmus+ funding for students studying or working in Europe from 2022-23 onwards.
