Receiving your bursary

Once your eligibility for the Leeds Bursary has been confirmed by email, you will need to follow a few key steps to ensure it is processed as expected.

When you've been informed that you're eligible for an award, there are two important steps you need to take to ensure everything is processed correctly:

  1. Check the amount you have been awarded: Log into Minerva, then select 'My Leeds' from the menu, go to 'Tools and Other University Systems,' choose 'Student Services,' then 'Payments and Financial Support,' and finally, select 'Leeds Bursary Summary' to view the amount you’ve been awarded.
  2. Provide bank details: If you choose to take the award as a cash payment, you will need to provide the details of the bank account that you want the money to be paid into. See instructions on how to do this securely on the providing bank details page.

Reasons your funding might be delayed

If we haven’t confirmed your eligibility

If you think you are eligible for the Leeds Bursary but have not received a confirmation email from us, it may be due to one or more of the following reasons.

Your financial awarding body has not yet completed your household income assessment.

Contact your financial awarding body to check the status of your application.

Your household income exceeds the maximum eligibility threshold.

Check your ‘Notification of Entitlement’ from your financial awarding body by logging into your online account.

Your household income is the total amount your family earns each year before tax and National Insurance.

Household income is usually based on earnings for the previous tax year. For example, if you’re applying to study in 2025/26, household income will be based on earnings from 2023/24.

If your household income changes

Your financial awarding body calculates your maintenance loan based on your household income for the previous tax year.

If your household income for the current tax year is likely to be lower by 15% or more, then you may be able to request a 'Current Year Income' assessment. You should contact your financial awarding body for more details.

Contact your financial awarding body

If you need help with your loans and household income assessment, please contact your financial awarding body:
