Funding from the University

Student Finance Travel Grant 

The Student Finance Travel Grant is a means-tested grant that could help you claim reasonable costs towards your year abroad.

Turing Scheme

The Turing Scheme is the UK's global programme for studying, working and living abroad. You may be eligible for a grant if your studies include a compulsory study or work abroad placement.

Funding from external organisations 

British Universities Transatlantic Exchange Association (BUTEX) 

BUTEX awards scholarships of £500 to UK students studying outside Europe.

Apply for a BUTEX scholarship if you've been offered a study abroad placement by the Study Abroad Office

Japan Student Services Organisation (JASSO) 

JASSO offers scholarships for international students accepted by a Japanese university under a foreign exchange agreement. Scholarships are awarded on academic merit.

Your host university in Japan will contact you if you're eligible and provide more information on the application process.

Mexican Government Scholarship Program

Apply for the Mexican Government Scholarship Program if you're an exchange student going to study in Mexico. 

DUO Fellowship Programme

The DUO Fellowship programme promotes academic exchanges between full-time undergraduates from European ASEM member countries and other countries, including:

  • Singapore 
  • South Korea
  • Thailand 

Successful 'duos' (or pairs) are awarded scholarships on academic merit. The amount varies by country.
