Cost of Attendance

The total amount of money that you need as a student for educational purposes is known as the Cost of Attendance (COA).

Federal law allows your COA to include:

  • tuition fees
  • an allowance for books, supplies and transport
  • an allowance to cover room and board, rent or hall charges
  • an allowance for dependent care specifically to cover care costs when you are in classes, studying, undertaking an internship, on field work, or commuting to those activities if necessary
  • an allowance to assist with any costs related to a disability that is not supported by the University’s Disability Service
  • coverage of any charges or premiums associated with a Federal Loan.

Calculating Cost of Attendance

You will complete your COA document during the Federal Loan application process. Your COA estimates the cost of you studying at the University of Leeds for one year.

Every student gets an individual calculation.

When calculating your COA, the University sets some costs based on averages. These are general living allowances.
