Canadian student funding
There are two types of loans available to students from Canada:
- National loans
- Provincial loans
Your eligibility for these loans depends on where you live.

Canada Student Financial Assistance Program
The Canada Student Financial Assistance Program provides grants and loans to eligible full-time and part-time students pursuing post-secondary education. The Canadian government works in partnership with most provinces and territories to deliver this financial support, with funding amounts calculated during the application process.

When applying, you may need to complete an enrolment or tuition fee confirmation form based on your province or territory. For help with this, email the Funding team at Funding@leeds.ac.uk.
Paying your tuition fees
For students commencing study in September/October 2026, 50% of the tuition fee will need to be paid by 1 November 2026 and the remaining balance of fees by 10 February 2027.
Failure to pay on or before the agreed due dates may result in you being withdrawn from the University of Leeds.

Canadian tax forms
If you are a Canadian taxpayer studying full-time outside of Canada, you can submit a claim for tax credit by completing a TL11A.
The form relates to a calendar year (1 January to 31 December). If a study year spans two calendar years, you will need to complete two TL11A forms.
Students must make sure to file their Canadian income tax and benefit return for a calendar year no later than April 30 of the following year.
