What to do if Minerva isn't working
If Minerva isn’t available, check for scheduled maintenance that may interrupt the service on the Minerva blog.
For any unplanned issues, we’ll update you during office hours on the IT service status page and let you know when the service is back up and running.
For questions or concerns about the impact of Minerva not working, please contact your school.
When Minerva isn’t available you’ll lose access to teaching material such as:
- video recordings of your lectures in Lecture Capture
- digitised reading list material such as online course readings
- lecture slides.
You’ll still be able to access:
- module reading lists
- past examination papers
- general advice on revision and exams on the Library website
- the examination and assessment timetable.
If not being able to access Minerva impacts your revision, please contact your school.
If you can’t submit work through Minerva
If Minerva isn’t available when you’re trying to submit work, there are three things you need to do:
Step 1: record some details
Take a screenshot of any error messages and make a note of the page you were trying to access. Write down:
- the date
- time
- your location
- your PC number (if you’re in an IT cluster).
Step 2: report the issue
Use the IT website to report the issue to the IT service desk. You’ll get a reference number. Your report should include your:
- module code
- assignment name
- contact information.
You’ll need the reference number if you contact your school about the impact of Minerva issues on your submission. Your school may also need the details from step 1.
Step 3: get help with your deadline
You can get help if an issue with Minerva impacts a deadline:
- Contact the school that teaches your module to tell them about the problem.
- If you think you’re going to miss a submission deadline, send the school the details you recorded for IT in step 1.
- You should also send the school the IT reference number.
When you submit your work, make sure you keep your submission receipt email.
