Online time-limited assessments
Online time-limited assessments are typically open for 48 hours.
This is to allow students in different time zones to start the assessment at a time suitable for them, to account for any technical issues and to enable students with assessment access arrangements to take the time they require in addition to the standard recommended duration stated on the rubric.

Online time-limited assessment duration
If you are taking an 24 to 48 hour online assessment for a module your assessment duration might show on your timetable as 180 minutes or 120 minutes.
These durations are the amount of time that you are recommended to spend working on that assessment in the larger 24 to 48 hour timeframe.
You will still have 24 to 48 hours to complete the assessment but your timetable shows the time that is recommended by your school that you should spend in total on that assessment within that 24 to 48 hour period.
Contact your school if you think the assessment duration on your timetable is incorrect.
Extra time and rest breaks for online time-limited assessments
The majority of online assessments will take place within a 48-hour window. You are not expected to work on your assessment for the full 48 hours.
The expected word count or recommended amount of time you should spend on the assessment will be included in the rubric of the paper.
Your timetable will also show the recommended duration that your school will have provided for the assessment.
48-hour assessments
If you usually have an extra time allowance this 48-hour window will incorporate that extra time along with any rest break allowances if relevant.
Assessments lasting less than 48 hours
Any assessment with a completion window of less than 48 hours must be calculated to include the additional time allowance and/or rest breaks you are entitled to.
Your extra time will be reflected in your assessment duration when the final timetable is published.
You should discuss any special arrangements or adjustments for your assessments with your module leader or school disability contact.
Consecutive online assessments
If you have three consecutive online 48-hour assessments you will be expected to plan to complete your assessments in the timeframe provided for each assessment.
We recommend you plan your workload in advance so you can complete all assessments in the allocated time.
Online assessments taking place at the same time
It is difficult to avoid 48-hour online assessments from taking place at the same time.
You will be expected to plan your workload in advance so that you can complete all assessments within the period allowed.
Taking online assessments in your home country
All assessments are scheduled using the GMT/BST time zones.
You will be expected to complete and submit your online time limited assessment by the GMT/BST deadline.
