How will I receive my certificate and transcript?

Once your award has been confirmed by the University we will send your degree certificate and transcript.

We will email digital copies of your documents to you and hard copies of your documents will be posted to you using a tracked mailing service.

You will receive a digital proof of award a couple of days after your award has been confirmed.  This is a digital document confirming your attendance dates, programme of study, the qualification and classification you achieved and your award date.

It will be sent to your University of Leeds and graduation email addresses.  If you have not received it, please first check the junk mail or the Clutter folder of those inboxes. If you still can’t find it, please get in touch with the Student Information Service.

When will I receive my documents?

We will send your certificate and transcript to you after your degree has been awarded.  Usually this is within 8 – 10 weeks, but we aim to send it to you as soon as possible. There may be a delay in you receiving your documents if you haven’t updated your contact details (see below)

How do I update my address for the delivery of my documents?

It is important that you provide up to date contact details so we can get your certificate to you. All students must do this before documents are sent out.

If you were awarded before the end of January 2024

You are no longer able to enter an address for your certificate delivery using the Student Services Portal. Please contact the Student Information Service with your most up-to-date postal and email addresses, and telephone number. If you have already provided a postal address, email address and telephone number following our reminders and would like to amend that, please be warned that your certificate is very likely to be in the process of being posted and it may be too late to change your delivery details but you can check the delivery status by contacting the Student Information Service.

If you were awarded after 1 February 2024

By default, we will use the permanent home address you provided during registration, unless you have provided an alternative address specifically for your Degree Certificate.

If your permanent home address and contact telephone number are correct and up-to-date, you do not need to do anything. You can check the permanent home address and contact telephone number via the same Portal.

  • If you are entering an address outside the UK which does not have a valid post code/zip code, please enter a full stop “.” in the Post Code/Zip Code field.
  • If your address contains many lines, please try and ensure you spread these out these across the Address Line 1, 2 and 3 fields rather than typing all in the Address Line 1 field.

If your address contains a flat/apartment number, building number or name and a street name, please enter the flat/apartment number and building number/name in Address Line 1 and the street name in Address Line 2. If your address contains a region, province and/or a state, please enter these in Address Line 3.
  • Our system can recognise non-Roman characters, which means that if, for example, your address is in China, you can enter your address in Chinese characters.

I’ve finished my course and am unable to access the Student Portal to update my address. What do I need to do?

If you no longer have access, please contact the Student Information Service to provide your personal email address, phone number and address for us to deliver your documents.

Can I order additional copies of my documents?

Your degree certificate and transcript are unique documents. You will be able to order additional copies of your transcript after you have received your original degree certificate and transcript.
