Good study practices
Good study practices are the foundation of academic integrity and academic excellence. By applying these practices and skills, you'll ensure that your work is both original and of high standard.
Good study practice means developing skills such as:
- Searching for information from academically reputable sources.
- Using research methods to generate your own information.
- Digesting information and ideas via reading and note-taking.
- Using critical thinking – bringing together material from different sources, analysing it and working out your own interpretation.
- Creating and writing to express your personal understanding, ideas and opinions.
- Judging when and how you can benefit from studying collaboratively with other students, and when it is vital to work independently.
