Study Abroad funding and costs
Study abroad financial considerations
Think about the costs of studying abroad before you apply. It is usually more expensive than being at Leeds, but costs can vary widely and will differ depending on your personal lifestyle and the cost of living in your host country.
Study abroad scholarships
Some study abroad students may be able to apply for a scholarship to help meet the costs of studying overseas.
If you will be on a work or study abroad placement in a European country anytime throughout the 2020-21 or 2021-22 academic year, you may be eligible for an Erasmus+ grant to supplement your student loan.
Applying for your student loan
You can apply for both a Maintenance Loan to help pay for living costs while studying abroad or on a work placement and a loan for the Tuition Fee.
UK and EU student tuition fees and maintenance loans - eligibility and amounts
If you're a UK or EU student and your course includes a placement year - studying abroad or working, either abroad or in the UK - your funding will change for the year.
