Degree certificates formatting

It has recently come to our attention that some of the degree certificates we have issued have small inconsistencies in the formatting.

Please be assured that this does not affect the substance of the certificate:  the errors are not in the classification or the award you have been given; these are unaffected.  As a precautionary step, to avert the possibility that the formatting  may lead to the certificate being queried or not recognised, we intend to reissue and will be sending you a new copy in the next few weeks.  When you receive that, please destroy the earlier version.

If you have any questions, or need a replacement certificate urgently, please do not hesitate to contact the Student Information Service

With my sincere apologies for this inconvenience and also with my congratulations on your well-deserved award.

Yours sincerely
Jennifer Sewel
University Secretary and Registrar

Could this error potentially lead to unauthorised use of my degree certificate by others?

No, the errors in question are confined to non-material inaccuracies

I have previously received a certificate from you, and there may be an error on it. I have already shared a copy of it with my employer, academic institution, sponsor, or another relevant party. What should be my course of action be at this point?

We recommend that you discard the initial certificate and accept the one we’ve just sent to you/are about to send to you as being correct. We recommend that you provide a copy of this updated certificate to your employer, academic institution, sponsor or other relevant party. We would be happy to email them to explain the circumstances directly.  If you would like us to do this, please email studentinfo@leeds.ac.uk and we will respond promptly.
