Induction and registration

Registration is a key part of officially joining the University and starting your research degree.

Registration helps us check information such as your course, how you will pay your tuition fees, the legal documents you need and your identity.  It is vital that you register on time, especially if you are on a visa or receive a scholarship.  To learn more, visit the Registration pages.

As a new postgraduate researcher, you will receive a full programme of induction resources to introduce you to the University, your fellow researchers, and the support available to you.

Your Doctoral College induction programme is available online. You can do it at your own speed and come back to it whenever you want. Make sure to start it in the first few days of your research degree.

Your Graduate School will tell you about the induction in your school or faculty. These usually include:

  • Where your faculty and school buildings are and how to get in

  • Spaces for research students, like desks and labs

  • Training such as health and safety

  • Specific faculty and school policies

  • Research groups that you are part of

  • Social opportunities, events and societies
