Working during study
Doing part-time paid and voluntary work is a great way to get to know British people and culture and gain valuable work experience for your future career.
If you're planning to work during your studies, you'll need to be aware of any restrictions that might affect you.
Tax and National Insurance
All workers in the UK pay tax and National Insurance. Before you start working you'll need to apply for a National Insurance number.

Working in the UK after study
If you're an international student and you would like to work in the UK after graduating then please be aware of the immigration rules that apply to you.
Working as a Sabbatical Officer
International students are encouraged to stand for election as a Sabbatical Officer and students with a Tier 4/Student visa are permitted to take a position as a Sabbatical Officer in the Leeds University Union.
