Graduation parking and venue accessibility

Read information about parking on graduation day and the accessiblity of our venues. Blue badge parking is available for students and guests.

Automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) is in operation in our campus car parks.

Parking on graduation day

Campus parking is not available to the public between 7am and 5pm Monday to Friday.

You can park for free at the Cinder Moor car park on Woodhouse Lane. It is open from 8am to 7pm on graduation days (it is locked at 7pm).

The Cinder Moor car park is located directly opposite Woodhouse Moor Park, which is approximately a 20-minute walk from campus.

We recommend dropping off guests with mobility constraints at the main entrance to campus before heading to the car park.

You can also find parking in Leeds City Centre.

Alternative parking arrangements will be in place for relaxed graduation. If you are attending a relaxed graduation, we will contact you directly with information about parking in advance.

Parking for blue badge holders

Blue badge holders can park for free on campus by registering your vehicle in advance. Pre-booking is essential as automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) is in operation in our campus car parks.

You’ll find reserved bays outside the Great Hall (with access via University Road), Michael Sadler building and around campus. View our map of campus parking locations.

You’ll need to display the blue badge in the vehicle on the day.

Venue accessibility

Graduation ceremonies are held on the first floor of the Great Hall. The Parkinson Building and the Great Hall both have lift and wheelchair access. The Great Hall is also fitted with an induction loop system.

Our team will be on hand to help during the day. They can assist guests into the Great Hall via the lift and provide them with a seat near the exit if needed.

The following links may help you plan for the day:

A platform lift is available if you can’t (or don’t want to) use the steps up to the stage. You also have the option to not go on stage – the presiding officer can come to you.

Complete the graduation special requirements form or email the Graduation team at graduation@leeds.ac.uk to let us know of any special arrangements you may need. Our team will then be in touch to go through what we can do to make arrangements.

There are different arrangements in place for relaxed graduation days. We will let you know about these in advance.

You can watch a webcast of a previous ceremony to find out what to expect.

We also have communication cards which are available to collect on arrival at our ticket desk, if you like to use these to express yourself when feeling overwhelmed.
