Travel to graduation

Read information about parking on graduation days. Blue badge parking is available for students and guests.

Automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) is in operation in our campus car parks.

Planning your travel

Roadworks, traffic congestion, and other events in Leeds and around the University may cause delays for drivers and road users. If you’re attending graduation, we strongly recommend allowing extra travel time and checking for roadworks or closures to help you plan your journey.

Parking on graduation day

Campus parking is not available to the public between 7am and 5pm Monday to Friday.

Important update about Cinder Moor car park

Due to an unauthorised encampment that began on Sunday 19 July, the Cinder Moor car park near campus is temporarily unavailable.

If you're travelling to graduation by car, please use one of the city centre car parks, including the Woodhouse Lane car park, which is one of the closest to campus. We hope the situation will be resolved soon and apologise for any inconvenience caused.

We recommend dropping off guests with mobility constraints at the main entrance to campus before heading to a car park.

Alternative parking arrangements will be in place for relaxed graduation. If you are attending a relaxed graduation, we will contact you directly with information about parking in advance.

Parking for blue badge holders

Blue badge holders can park for free on campus by registering your vehicle in advance (form available from 13 April until 1 July 2026). Pre-booking is essential as automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) is in operation in our campus car parks.

You’ll find blue badge parking bays outside the Great Hall (with access via University Road), the Michael Sadler building and around campus. View our map of campus parking locations.

You’ll need to display the blue badge in the vehicle on the day.
