Life at Leeds: Making the most of Global Careers Month

Information about how students can make the most of Global Careers Month.

Are you thinking about your summer plans? What you’ll be doing after graduation? Part-time jobs while studying? Or even how you can gain the skills and confidence to get the ideal job to kick-start your career? We can help! There are so many opportunities available to you so throughout March the Careers Service will be running a ‘Global Careers Month’.

What is Global Careers Month?

Global Careers Month is for anyone looking to explore the world of work abroad, whether or not you’ve lived or worked outside of the UK before.

We’ve arranged a whole programme of events and activities throughout March to help you explore the amazing opportunities available to you worldwide, and to support you in developing your employability skills.

You can join skills-based workshops, employer-led sessions, inspirational alumni talks, as well as student-led events, movie nights and more! Simply log on to MyCareer to see what’s on when!

What’s in it for you?

We want to help you make the most of the opportunities available to you at Leeds. This includes benefiting from our ever-growing global connections, alumni networks and employer connections.

Throughout the month, you can join events that will:

  • Help you to consider the types of companies you might work for overseas
  • Improve your skills to help land the perfect role, such as interview techniques
  • Widen your networks with global employers, alumni and more
  • Gain an understanding of the processes involved in securing a visa to work abroad

What’s on in March?

Here are just some of the events we’ll be running for you. Many of these are delivered online as webinars so that you can join from anywhere, using any device.

Week 1, 2 – 6 March

Week 2, 9 – 13 March

Week 3, 16 – 20 March

Week 4, 23 – 27 March

If you’re not free at the time of a session you really want to hear, don’t worry. We will be recording many of them so that you can log on to them as a webinar through the careers website.
