Support for remote learners
Disabled students studying remotely can access support from the University’s Disability Services
What is Disability Services?
Disability Services recommend reasonable adjustments to disabled students’ learning, teaching and exams.
We support people who:
- are D/deaf or hearing impaired
- are blind or visually impaired
- have a physical disability, and/or mobility difficulties
- have a specific learning difficulty (for example, dyslexia or dyspraxia)
- have a neurodevelopmental condition (for example, AD(H)D)
- have a neurological condition (for example, MS, epilepsy, Tourette Syndrome, stammer)
- are autistic
- have a mental health condition
- have a long-term medical condition (e.g. chronic fatigue syndrome, asthma, diabetes, cancer, HIV)
- have a combination of these
To access support from Disability Services:
Please note, it can take several weeks for registrations to be processed and support set up. This may mean you need to consider when you are going to start your modules or course as support may not yet be in place. We recommend that you register with Disability Services as soon as you can and do not wait until your course has started.
What support is available?
The support you could access will be based on your individual needs and your disability and may include:
- Exam access arrangements
- Information provided to your academic school about adjustments during your studies
- Receiving handouts and lecture slides in advance
- Online workshops and advice from an Assistive Technology Advisor
- Online appointments with a Disability Advisor or Coordinator
