Your family and work
If you have family members staying with you while you study, they may wish to find work to supplement your household income.
There are strict rules around who is allowed to work in the UK, and it is important to make sure your dependants follow these rules before accepting any offer of work.
If your dependant has permission to work in the UK, they will be able to work full-time or part-time, in employment, in self-employment or voluntarily. The only restriction is that they will not be allowed to work as a doctor in training.
If your dependant does not have permission to work in the UK, they will not be able to work, whether in paid employment or voluntary work.

If you are currently in the UK and you need to make a new Student visa/Tier 4 application which will result in you being granted less than 12 months leave to remain, your dependant will not be allowed to work in the UK.
