Applications and selection
- 1 December 2025: Applications open (Apply on MyCareer or learn more about how to apply).
- 1 March 2026: Applications close.
- March 2026: Interviews held.
- End of March 2026: Scholars confirmed.
- May 2026: Welcome event and research showcase.
The leadership programme
The dates of the Laidlaw Programme for 2026 to 2028 are as follows:
- June 2026: Induction, leadership and skills development residential
- June 2026: Leadership and team-building development residential
- September 2026: Reflection, leadership and skills development day
- February 2027: Cultural humility, leadership and skills development day
- May 2027: 2027 cohort programme launch and 2026 cohort celebration event
- June 2027: Leadership and skills development days
- June 2028: Leadership and skills development days
Specific dates within these months will be confirmed in due course. Attendance at the events is mandatory.

- June 2026 to September 2026: Research period
- June 2027 to September 2027: Leadership in Action period
