Support for students accused of harassment or misconduct
Being accused of harassment, sexual misconduct or any other form of violence, abuse or discrimination can be a confusing and isolating experience. You may feel scared, ashamed, alone or a sense of shock.
These feelings can be hard to manage on your own. Support is available if you need to talk to someone.
Whether an informal allegation or a formal report has been made, we suggest:
- Remaining calm and taking the matter seriously.
- Understanding the Student Policy on Preventing and Addressing Bullying, Harassment and Sexual Misconduct (PDF) and the Student Complaint’s Procedure.
- Accessing advocacy support, provided by Leeds University Union (LUU) Advice. Their advisors are independent from the university and provide confidential support.
- Asking for support and guidance – whether that be for your mental health and wellbeing, for your academic studies (mitigating circumstances) or anything else.
