Disclose harassment or misconduct to the University

If you are a student or postgraduate researcher and have experienced or witnessed of any kind of violence, abuse, bullying, harassment, sexual misconduct or discrimination, you can tell us through a disclosure form on our Report and Support website.

You can share what has happened anonymously or provide your contact details.

You can also email the Harassment and Misconduct team at reportandsupport@leeds.ac.uk to talk through options and get confidential advice.

How to disclose harassment or misconduct

Complete the named disclosure form

Complete our disclosure form and provide contact your details. A specialist advisor will contact you within one working day to arrange a confidential appointment.

Complete the anonymous disclosure form

Tell us what happened without sharing your contact information. This will help us monitor trends and take action to prevent harmful behaviours.

Next steps after you contact us

If you have opted to share you contact details with us on the disclosure form, a specialist advisor will contact you within one working day to arrange a confidential appointment.

 The advisors in the Harassment and Misconduct team can help however feels right to you, whether you want to explore support options, understand how to make a formal report, or just talk. 

We can talk through your options for next steps at your appointment. The next steps are entirely your choice but could include:

  • The Harassment and Misconduct team giving you practical support around university life, for example, help with accommodation, financial or academic issues.
  • Considering counselling or therapeutic options either through the University or external services.
  • Considering formal reporting options such as making a formal report to the University or the police.

Formal reporting options

Submitting a disclosure form does not instigate a formal complaints process. If you wish to make a formal complaint, see the formal reporting routes page.

The Harassment and Misconduct team can talk you through how to engage with the Student Complaints Procedure. Email the Harassment and Misconduct team at reportandsupport@leeds.ac.uk.

Alternatively, if you would like to make a formal report you can contact Student Cases and initiate this process yourself.

If you are a member of staff and have experienced or witnessed harassment and misconduct, you can tell us by using the Report and Support website. Disclosures submitted there are managed by HR Case Management.
