Preventing and addressing harassment and misconduct module
All students and postgraduate researchers registered at Leeds must complete our online module ‘Preventing and addressing harassment and misconduct’.
The module will give you the knowledge and skills to recognise, prevent, and respond to harassment, sexual misconduct, and related forms of harm within our university community.
Our community is grounded in safety, respect, and inclusion, where all members can contribute and be heard. We all have a part to play in ensuring our university is respectful and compassionate. That means showing up: for each other, ourselves, and for Leeds.
Complete the online module
When you join the University, we will send you an email with full details of the module and the date you need to complete it by.
The module will take you approximately 90 minutes to complete and includes written articles, narrated animations and multiple-choice questions.
You don’t need to complete the full module all at once – you can complete it in sections, save your progress and return to it later.
You’ll explore:
- What’s expected of you as a Leeds student.
- How to understand and communicate consent.
- How to step in safely as a bystander.
- Where to go for guidance and support if needed.
Guidance and support
This module considers difficult topics that may be distressing to some. To support you in completing the content, we recommend:
- Ensuring you are in a comfortable and supportive environment.
- Considering breaking up the content and completing it over a number of sessions.
- Emailing the Harassment and Misconduct team at reportandsupport@leeds.ac.uk if you want to understand what is included in the online module in more depth and why the University is expecting you to do this.
- Engaging with support information, resources and services before, during or after completing the online module.
If you have lived experience of harassment or misconduct
We understand that experiences of violence, abuse or discrimination can happen at any time in someone’s life and that the impacts can be widespread. While the content of the module is trauma-informed, engaging with sensitive topics may still be distressing to those with lived experience.
If you feel unable to complete this module, please complete the Preventing and addressing harassment and misconduct module opt-out form.
