Graduation registration opened on Monday 14 October 2024. You have until Friday 1 November to register a choice. Please read instructions on this page carefully to ensure you register your choice correctly.

Registering a graduation choice for winter 2024

For Graduation in winter 2024, all finalist students need to register a graduation choice and update personal details by Friday 1 November. Registration is available from Monday 14 October 2024. If you don’t register a choice by 1 November, we won’t be able to guarantee attendance at Graduation and there may be delays to your degree certificate.

Your Graduation options are

  • To attend Graduation in December 2024
  • To attend next year, in July 2025 
  • To attend next year, in December 2025
  • Not attend any Graduation, known as in absentia

December 2024 

  1. Graduation Ceremony, in person. You have the option to attend Graduation in person, on campus, in the Great Hall. The registration pages is open from 14 October and you will need to login and register using Student Services (we recommend using a desktop browser or to access via Minerva if the page does not load for you). Detailed instructions are listed below, including what to do if you no longer have access to your University account.
  2. Virtual Graduation, online. If you prefer, you can attend a Virtual Graduation online. This will be held on Friday 6 and Monday 9 December 2024. Anyone unable to attend in person can select to join in this way. To choose this option, you will need to register using the Virtual Graduation registration form instead of Student Services (link available from 14 October to 1 November).
  3. Relaxed Graduation, in person. If you are interested to attend a Relaxed Graduation on campus instead, you can register your interest in this alternative ceremony format. The Relaxed Graduation experience is designed for students or guests with learning difficulties, autism, social anxiety, or sensory processing difficulties, but is open to any students or guests who may find this alternative format more comfortable, subject to availability and demand. To register your interest in this option, you will need to complete the Relaxed Graduation form instead of Student Services (link available from 14 October to 1 November).

July 2025 or December 2025, or in absentia

To attend Graduation in July 2025 or December 2025, register your choice for this using Student Services. You will then need to register again nearer the time of the Graduation you’ve chosen.

If you do not wish to attend any Graduation, you must also let us know your choice for this using Student Services.

Attendance and Certificates 

Due to the planning and organising involved, we ask that students only register to attend one event. It is not possible to attend both a virtual and in person graduation. Register your choice by Friday 1 November 2024.

Tickets and gowns

When you register for an in person ceremony, you have the option to add up to two guest tickets as part of the registration. Tickets are only needed for entry to the ceremony itself. Other locations on campus are open to all guests if they are not able to get a guest ticket for the Great Hall. Due to the limited capacity of the Great Hall, obtaining extra guest tickets isn’t always possible. However, we do offer an application process for extra guest tickets after registration closes, subject to availability. This process typically opens for a few days in the month before graduation.

To order a gown after you have registered your graduation choice, you will need a gown access code. This will be sent to you in your confirmation email. You may need to wait up to five working days to receive this after you register your graduation choice. 

How to register in Student Services  

Here is a step-by-step guide to logging on and registering for the in-person Graduation ceremonies. If you choose either the Virtual or Relaxed Graduations instead, use the links above to register your choice for those.

To register for a Graduation ceremony, in person.

  1. Go to studentservices.leeds.ac.uk (we recommend using a desktop browser or to access via Minerva if the page does not load for you)
  2. Sign in with your username (followed by @leeds.ac.uk) and password 
  3. Click the “Registration and Student Records” tab
  4. Click on the “Graduation Ceremony” link at the bottom of the page
  5. Click the ceremony number to proceed 
  6. It will first ask you some details about yourself and will eventually take you to a page where you can make a graduation choice. 
  7. You will get a confirmation email sent approximately five working days after registering so you can then go on to hire your gown and make other preparations.

To access Student Services via Minerva, visit https://minerva.leeds.ac.uk/, then click on “Student Services” within the “My Leeds” section. This will take you to the Student Services page where you can then follow the steps above.

If you are having any problems logging into Student Services or no longer have access to your University account please email the Graduation team. Include your student ID number with any email you send. You must register your graduation choice by Friday 1 November, so please allow enough time for this.
