External wellbeing services
Mental health and wellbeing support from the University is just one option. You may find it helpful to access support through a doctor (GP), NHS services, charities, community organisations or specialist providers.
Register with a doctor
A General Practitioner (GP) is a doctor who can help with your physical and mental health, including ongoing health conditions, medication and referrals to other NHS services.
It’s a good idea to register with a GP when you arrive at university, even if you’re well, so you know where to get medical help if you need it.
Lots of students who live near campus register with Leeds Student Medical Practice. If you live elsewhere, find a GP near you.
Leeds Mental Wellbeing Service
Leeds Mental Wellbeing Service provides support and therapies for common issues, such as anxiety, stress and depression. They support people aged 17 and above who are registered with a Leeds GP and living within the Leeds area.
If you’re not local to Leeds, find NHS talking therapies in your area.
Leeds University Union (LUU) Advice
LUU Advice provides free and confidential support to all University of Leeds students. Their service is independent from the University. You can access their support in person or online.
