Getting a student card remotely

This page gives guidance on the remote student card service.

First student card for new students

New full-time on-campus students

The remote service is not available for new full-time on-campus students. You should collect your first student card on campus, after you have completed your online identity check. Please see our student card webpage.

New students studying part-time, or on a distance-learning programme

You can apply for your student card online if your programme is a distance-learning programme (online only), or if you are a part-time learner. If your programme requires you to complete an online identity check, please do this before applying for your student card.

Students who intend to travel to Leeds at any point in the year for a full-time programme will not be able to use this service. Please see our student card webpage instead.

Your student card will be posted to the address provided on the form. Note, the card functions as a way of accessing campus facilities (the Library, the Edge, etc) and student-discounted travel in the UK. We are not able to post to international addresses.

Please read the form carefully before placing your order. After you have placed your order, you will receive a confirmation email from no_reply_ssc@leeds.ac.uk.

Replacement student cards

Replacing a lost or stolen card

Please apply for a replacement for lost or stolen student card using the online store.

As the card functions as a way of accessing campus facilities (the Library, the Edge, etc) and student-discounted travel in the UK, we are not able to post to international addresses. If you are a full-time, on campus student living in Leeds you are required to collect your card in person.

Replacing a damaged or expired card

Replacement student cards are available to order via the Student Card Order Form.

When you submit your order you will need to provide a photo of the front and back of your current card to evidence that it is still in your possession and you have not lost/destroyed your card. There is a £10 replacement fee for lost/destroyed cards. You can apply for a replacement for lost or stolen student card using the online store.

As the card functions as a way of accessing campus facilities (the Library, the Edge, etc) and student-discounted travel in the UK, we are not able to post to international addresses. If you are a full-time, on campus student living in Leeds you are required to collect your card in person.

Please read the form carefully before placing your order. After you have placed your order, you will receive a confirmation email from no_reply_ssc@leeds.ac.uk.

Expired cards

If the date on your student card is in the past, you can still use it, as long as you are still a registered student. Your student card will last for the duration of your current course at the University, regardless of the expiry date on the card. If you're a current student whose course has been extended (e.g. students who have intercalated, taken a year abroad or in industry) and your student card has expired, your card will still work.  We no longer print expiry dates on student cards, so your replacement card will not have a date printed on it.

Replacing your card following a name change

Replacement student cards are available to order via the Student Card Order Form.

When you submit your order you will need to provide a photo of your current card, which shows your previous name.

As the card functions as a way of accessing campus facilities (the Library, the Edge, etc) and student-discounted travel in the UK, we are not able to post to international addresses. If you are a full-time, on campus student living in Leeds you are required to collect your card in person.
