Get your student card
Your student card will allow you to participate in certain activities and events at the University and allow you to access specific areas on campus.
You should carry your student card with you on campus as you will be expected to present it to staff to prove your identity.
If you are unable to present your student card, you may be asked to leave campus.
Your student card:
- identifies you as a student of the University of Leeds,
- works as your University Library Card - you need it to enter library buildings and borrow books,
- provides you with access to computing facilities,
- allows you to use Sport and Physical Activity facilities (if you're a member),
- is used as official ID for University examinations.
Your student card remains the property of the University. Please look after it and keep it safe until you leave the University.
How to get your student card if you’re a new student
After completing your online identity check and once the University has finished verification, you'll receive an email with instructions on how to collect your student card on campus.
The student card isn't needed to complete registration, but you should book an appointment to collect one.
Ordering your student card online
You can apply for your student card online if you're studying part-time or on a distance learning programme (online only). You must complete your online identity check form before applying.
Your student card will be posted to the address you provide on the student card order form.
Please note that we do not post to international addresses.
Fraudulent use of your student card
If your student card is used fraudulently, you'll be subject to action under the University Disciplinary Procedure. This might not only involve you, but also anyone you've lent it to if this can be proved.
