There are facilities across the University to help you develop your study skills or improve any spoken languages.
Libraries
Our libraries are dedicated to giving you access to all the resources you need for study, creativity and leisure, with a wide variety of study environments to choose from.
We provide specialist resources and support, for you to develop your digital and academic skills so that you can achieve your ambitions now and later in life.

Academic skills support
Skills@Library provides a range of services to help you develop your academic skills, including:
- Free workshops on a wide range of academic skills topics including reading, writing and critical thinking.
- Bookable one-to-one appointments.
- Maths and statistics support.
- Online guidance on developing your study skills, such as using AI, revision and group work.

Language learning support
If you’re interested in learning a new language or improving a current one, our Language Zone has learning facilities you can use for free.
If you’d like to learn a language as part of your degree, you may be able to study a language module through Languages for All.
If English isn't your first language, we have free, part-time courses and workshops to help you to develop your academic English language skills.
