Study abroad entry requirements
Before applying to study abroad, please ensure you meet the eligibility criteria for the 2025/26 study abroad programme.
Academic requirements
To qualify for the 2025/26 programme, you must have achieved a minimum average of 60 during the 2023/24 academic year. For most applicants, this will be based on your first-year results. If you are an Integrated Masters student planning an additional year abroad and are entering your third year, we will assess your second-year average instead.
If your average falls between 57 and 59.9, you may still apply with the support of your School Study Abroad Coordinator. If this applies to you, please contact your coordinator before submitting your application to confirm their support.
Important points
- If you secure a place to study abroad, you are expected to maintain a minimum average of 60 throughout the 2024/25 academic year (or the minimum required for your degree programme). Falling below this average may result in withdrawal from the programme.
- Some partner universities require a 60 average at the application stage. If your current average is below this threshold, you will not be eligible for these institutions; therefore, we recommend excluding them from your preference list.
- If studying abroad is a compulsory component of your degree, different eligibility criteria may apply. Please contact your School Study Abroad Coordinator for further information.
Eligible degree programmes
Most undergraduate degrees at Leeds offer opportunities for study abroad. However, some courses, particularly in the Schools of Medicine and Dentistry, may not allow for this option.
If you are uncertain, please check with your School Study Abroad Coordinator or the Outgoing Study Abroad team.
