Transition into university

Starting university is a huge life change. We’re here to help you as a Plus Programme student to settle in and we’ll work with you in the next chapter of your education.

There’ll be lots of transitions throughout your time at Leeds - perhaps you’re privately renting for the first time, coming back to higher education after some time away or starting to commute into Leeds for your studies. We’re here to help you navigate these changes throughout your time here.

Pre-arrival

As a new Plus Programme student, you will start receiving our newsletters a few weeks before you join the University. They will showcase key information and opportunities you won’t want to miss!

You’ll continue to receive these newsletters throughout your time at Leeds, with a variety of useful content to give you access to exclusive opportunities, events and funding pots for Plus Programme students.

Welcome and Welcome Back events

Every year, the Plus Programme welcomes new and returning students to the University at our flagship Welcome and Welcome Back events.

The undergraduate Welcome event runs a few weeks before the start of the year and offers a space for you to familiarise yourself with the campus, find your people and learn more about what’s on offer through the Plus Programme.

The postgraduate Welcome event offers Plus Programme Masters students a similar experience, with a focus on the taught postgraduate (PGT) experience, and runs a few weeks into the first term.

The Plus Programme Welcome Back event takes place a few weeks into term 1 and allows returning students to reimmerse themselves in all things Plus Programme, hitting the ground running for the year ahead.

Welcome Week activity

Part of the Plus Programme ethos is to support you to find your people and gain a sense of belonging on campus. During Welcome Week, we run a number of social activities across various locations, on and off campus, to help you do this.

Current students can find out more and book onto our transitional events and activities on our Plus Programme SharePoint site.
