Opportunities for ethnically minoritised students

Our ethnically minoritised students have shared with us that they had preconceptions about life at Leeds. Whilst being here has turned out very differently, some students worried about finding their sense of belonging. We want to do all we can to ensure that Leeds is a fantastic student experience for everyone.

I See Myself

We’ve been working very closely with our students through the Student Involvement Project and critical friend work to understand more about what students need from us in this space. Through this partnered work, we’ve created I See Myself, derived from work in our Listening Rooms, whereby students shared their thoughts on coming to Leeds.

I resonated with some of the themes of the Listening Room snippets, such as Integration and Inclusion, as these were concerns I had before coming to Leeds.

I See Myself – Supporting Black heritage students at Leeds

I See Myself is a dedicated initiative for Black heritage students at the University of Leeds, offering events, workshops, and opportunities that support your goals, build confidence, and strengthen your sense of belonging at university.

Through collaboration with organisations like KINSIS and GRIT, we create spaces for personal growth, leadership development, and skills-building – so you can thrive, feel seen, and lead with purpose.

To get involved, current students can find upcoming events and explore opportunities on our Plus Programme SharePoint site.
