The Mature Student Hub is here to help you settle in, build confidence and find a community of peers who share similar experiences.

Who the Hub supports

The Mature Student Hub is for anyone who begins their undergraduate degree at the age of 21 or above. We recognise that the needs of mature learners may be different to those of younger peers, and the Hub provides tailored opportunities for connection and support.

About the Hub

The Hub is a network of events, activities and services across campus and online. We will be using Beech Grove House or the Lifelong Learning Centre Common Room (Marjorie and Arnold Ziff Building) for many of our activities.

Through the Hub you can:

  • build your student community here at Leeds
  • develop skills to help you thrive academically and in the workplace
  • make the most of your time as a University student.

Upcoming events through the Hub

We’ve organised drop-in sessions throughout term one, giving you the chance to meet fellow mature students and enjoy free refreshments in a relaxed setting. No booking is required. Staff will also be available to answer questions or provide guidance.

Welcome drop-in sessions

  • Wednesday 15 October, 11am to 12pm – Beech Grove House (opposite Leeds University Union)
  • Wednesday 22 October, 4pm to 5pm – Beech Grove House (opposite Leeds University Union)

Careers Service focused drop-in session

  • Wednesday 29 October, 10am to 12pm
  • Lifelong Learning Centre Common Room (Level 12, Marjorie and Arnold Ziff Building)

The University's Careers Service will be joining us to highlight their offer of support to students. Whether you want to find out more about preparing for an interview, seeking CV advice or just arranging a careers appointment, a member of their team will be available to chat through your options with you. 

Financial wellbeing focused drop-in session

  • Wednesday 5 November, 3pm to 5pm
  • Lifelong Learning Centre Common Room (Level 12, Marjorie and Arnold Ziff Building)

Pop down to meet the Financial Wellbeing team. Based within The Student Success Centre, the Financial Wellbeing team offer opportunities to support you in developing your financial and budgeting skills and knowledge. Find out more about what the team offer and how you can benefit from their support.

Student Success Mini Fair

  • Tuesday 28 October, 11am to 1pm
  • Location to be confirmed

The Student Success Centre offers support to students to thrive during their time at Leeds. Come along to find out what's on offer and how you can make the most of that support.

As a Hub, we will be arranging to attend this session as a group. If you would like attend the fair as part of our mature students group, please meet outside the Union at 11am.

Trip to Knaresborough

  • Saturday 8 November, all day event

Staying connected

Join our student-led Teams channel to connect with fellow mature students online. This space is for peer-to-peer conversation and sharing experiences.

Staff may occasionally share opportunities, but the main place to find up-to-date information is right here on the website.
