Part-time Leeds Financial Support
Find out how to apply for part-time Leeds Financial Support and how much you might receive.
Eligibility and how to apply
To qualify for part-time Leeds Financial Support (LFS) you must be registered on a part-time undergraduate degree, foundation degree, diploma of higher education (DipHE) or certificate of higher education (CertHE), lasting for at least one year. You must also be studying at least 30 credits a year (25% of a full-time course).
You must have completed your online registration at the University for the academic year in which you are applying before submitting an application. For the academic year 2020-21, registration opens on 3rd August for returning students and 2nd September for new students.
To apply, you must complete an application form for Part-time Leeds Financial Support, and you will need to submit an application for every year you are a student.
EITHER
- If you have applied to Student Finance England (SFE) for a means-tested maintenance loan (living costs), and provided household income information to SFE and given consent for your income to be shared with the University, you only need to complete and sign page 1 of the application form.
OR
- If you have applied to SFE for a just a tuition fee loan, or a tuition fee and a maintenance loan but not given household income information to SFE, you will need to complete the entire application form (6 pages) and provide the documents requested in the form. You will need to provide evidence of your income (and, if you live with a partner, their income). This will be either benefits, salary, or pension. If you do not have an income, or cannot provide evidence of an income, please contact Funding@leeds.ac.uk before submitting an application form.
With current working arrangements due to Covid-19, you will not be able to hand in your form at the University or post it as in previous years. The application form is available as a Word document, which you will be able to open and complete by typing your information. In the signature boxes on page 1 (and page 6, if completing the full form), you should type your name. You can then email the completed form to Funding@leeds.ac.uk
You will also need to email the evidence requested in the application form, if you have not applied for the SFE means-tested maintenance loan. This can be scanned or photographed and sent as attachments in the email (so long as the photographs are clear and legible). Even if you have applied in previous years, you will need to resubmit all the evidence requested in the form for each year that you make an application, unless you have applied for an SFE means-tested maintenance loan.
You must email the application form and any supporting evidence from your University email account.
UK students can opt to receive their LFS award as a cash payment, or tuition fee discount, or accommodation discount if in University accommodation. Awards will default to being paid as cash unless the student selects one of the alternative options on Minerva. You will need to provide your bank details on Minerva in order to receive a payment. If you have provided your bank details in a previous year, these will be rolled forward and you won’t need to enter them again unless you have changed bank.
EU students (with a Student Support Number prefix EURS) can only receive LFS as a tuition fee discount.
