Part-time Leeds Bursary
Find out how to apply for the Part-time Leeds Bursary (previously called Part-time Leeds Financial Support) and how much you might receive.
Eligibility and how to apply
To qualify for the Part-time Leeds Bursary (PTLB) you must be registered on a part-time undergraduate degree, foundation degree, diploma of higher education (DipHE) or certificate of higher education (CertHE), lasting for at least one year. You must also be studying at least 30 credits a year (25% of a full-time course).
You must have completed your online registration at the University for the academic year in which you are applying before submitting an application. Registration opens in the first week of September for new students and the first week of August for returning students.
To apply, you must complete an application form for the Part-time Leeds Bursary, and you will need to complete an application for every year you are a student.
If you have been means-tested by Student Finance England
If you have applied to Student Finance England (SFE) for a means-tested maintenance loan (living costs), and provided household income information to SFE and given consent for your income to be shared with the University, you only need to complete and small part of the application form.
If you have NOT been means-tested by Student Finance England
If you have applied to SFE for a just a tuition fee loan, or a tuition fee and a maintenance loan but not given household income information to SFE, you will need to complete the entire application form (6 pages) and provide the documents requested in the form. You will need to provide evidence of your income (and, if you live with a partner, their income). You will be required to upload evidence as part of the application submission. It is recommended that you collate this evidence prior to starting the application. The evidence you may need can include:

UK students can receive their PTLB award as a cash payment paid into their bank account, or tuition fee discount against their student loan, or accommodation discount if in University accommodation. Awards will default to being paid as cash unless the student selects one of the alternative options on Minerva. You will need to provide your bank details on Minerva in order to receive a payment.
EU students (with a Student Support Number prefix EURS) can only receive PTLB as a tuition fee discount.

Applications can take up to 4 weeks to process once all required evidence as been provided. If your application is submitted, and you have provided all required evidence, by 31st October then you should receive the first instalment of your bursary award on time. If you submit your application and evidence after that date then it may take up to 6 weeks before your first instalment is processed.
