Student representation
We take a partnership approach to student representation and there are several ways in which you can make your voice heard during your time at Leeds.
Student feedback is a key part of the student experience and we encourage your involvement at programme, School and University level.
Feedback
Throughout your time with us, we’ll ask for your feedback about your experience as a student in a variety of ways. Your input into surveys and reviews is a valuable element of future planning for the student experience.
If you want to make your opinion heard, speak directly to any member of staff, your school rep, course rep or you can become a representative for a wider group of students yourself.
Leeds University Union (LUU)
LUU is a students’ union which leads nationally in both student survey and quality audits. Student representation is coordinated and supported at programme and course level, for undergraduate and postgraduate for both taught and research students.
Education Officer
The Education Officer is one of the six annually-elected members of the Student Executive. The portfolio covers specifically academic matters including learning resources, course issues and educational policy. They work with students and reps to seek improvements for the student experience.
School reps
There are around 80 school reps at Leeds working in teams within each faculty and representing undergraduate and taught postgraduate students. They take students’ views to the Faculty Taught Student Education Committee (FTSEC) and LUU's Better University Forum.
You can find out who your school rep is and how to contact them or how to get involved yourself.
Course reps
Staff supporting your programme will ask you to elect one rep per teaching group depending on the school you study in. You will be invited by local support staff to select a student to represent your programme of study. Course reps will pass the views of students on to the Student:Staff Forum (SSF) and your Faculty Taught Student Education Committee (FTSEC) and local staff can let you know who represents you.
