Getting Started at Leeds

As you prepare for the start of your Leeds journey, we are excited to announce the launch of a new online resource that has been designed entirely with you in mind.

There’s a lot to take in within your first few weeks so Getting Started at Leeds is here to help. We’ve designed this resource to put you in control of your induction, allowing you to explore at the right time and pace for you.

You will naturally have questions. What will it be like to study at Leeds? How can I become an effective online learner? How do I access support? This resource aims to provide the answers… or to direct you to the places to find out more, by linking to other University websites and resources. This means that you will always have access to the most up-to-date information and support, when you need it.

Watch the video about Getting Started at Leeds to find out more.

Who is Getting Started at Leeds for?

Getting Started at Leeds is for all new undergraduate and taught postgraduate students. It is for all students, from every faculty and every school. So the information is a really good introduction at University-level.

Your faculty, your school and your subject area will all provide you with additional information that is specific to your programme. You can also explore more School-specific information on ‘For Students’ – the University’s webpages dedicated to current students.

When should I use Getting Started at Leeds?

We’ve designed the resource so that you can use it at different points over the next few weeks. This means that it is in 2 sections:

  • Section 1: Arriving and Joining: This section includes a lot of practical information. Exploring it in detail now will ensure you are ready to start your studies and know how to access the support you need.
  • Section 2: Developing and Planning: This section looks in more detail at how you can get the most out of your studies and life in Leeds. Explore this section at any time, and we particularly hope it will help you settle in during your first few weeks.

Designed to help you through your first few weeks, Getting Started at Leeds will remain available to you if you want to check back on something later in the year and has lots of links that will be useful throughout your time at Leeds.

How do I access the resource?

You can access Getting Started at Leeds through Minerva. Click on the ‘Learn’ tab and then ‘Organisations’ to access the resource, or follow one of the links below:

Please aim to spend some time this week exploring the content in Section 1. If you have any questions, please check online at ‘For students’, and if you can’t find the answer, get in touch with our student information team via email, phone or in person.

Take care of yourself, and we’ll be in touch again later this week with more information about preparing for Leeds.

Best wishes from the Student Communications team
