Industrial action email to all students and postgraduate researchers - 5 November 2019

The below email was sent on 5 November 2019

Dear all,

The University and College Union (UCU) at Leeds has achieved a mandate to take industrial action, if it chooses to do so. This relates to ongoing disputes about staff pay and pensions, both of which are set nationally.

At the moment we have not been informed of any such action by the UCU, but we will let you know should the position change.

During any such action, our absolute priority will be to do everything we can to minimise the disruptive effect on students, and plans are being drawn up to ensure this. It is anticipated that industrial action could take place at many universities across the UK.

How to keep up to date

When there is significant news to update you on, we will include this in our fortnightly Life at Leeds newsletter. Our industrial action page on the For Students website will also be kept up-to-date with the latest information as soon as it becomes available.

During any future period of industrial action you should keep checking your email, Minerva announcements and school Facebook groups in case of any updates, and if your timetable is disrupted and you need advice about what to do, the taught student office in your school should be able to help you.

Kind regards,

Student Communications
