Wellbeing Workshops

Our in-person Wellbeing Workshops will support you in building and creating your own wellbeing tools and techniques to help manage the stresses and strains of life.

The topics range from an introduction to managing panic to understanding emotions.

There are 10 places available for each workshop and places are allocated on a first come, first served basis.

The workshops will be held at 19-21 Clarendon Place and are available to book on the Student Counselling and Wellbeing Hub.

Taking your thought to court!

Thursday 2 November 13:00-14:00

Sometimes we can feel stuck by our own thoughts. During this workshop we will explore an alternative perspective and focus on challenging our thoughts using hard evidence, just as they would in court. We will focus on developing a basic understanding of thoughts, help you to recognise unhelpful thinking styles, and develop alternative more helpful responses.

Why Worry?

Friday 10 November 11:00-12:00

Sometimes, it can feel as though worry has completely taken over our mind. We may feel as though our worries are completely beyond our control. During this workshop we will discuss the purpose of worry, why it happens, how it can be both helpful and unhelpful. We will focus on developing strategies for management of worry and unhelpful thinking.

Understanding Emotions

Monday 13 November 10:00-11:00

Understanding how we feel at any point can feel challenging and sometimes overwhelming. This session will provide information on the role and purpose of emotions, how we can identity what we may be feeling and how we might start to regulate difficult emotions.

Improving Motivation

Thursday 16 November 13:00-14:00

When we’re experiencing low mood, or periods of heightened stress we may feel that our levels of motivation take a significant hit. During this workshop we will explore patterns of reduced motivation and inactivity and also guide you through how to develop strategies to help improve motivation and reconnect with valuable activities.

Reconnect & Refocus

Monday 20 November 10:00-11:00

This psychoeducational session offers an introduction to how to reconnect with the here and now, bringing focus to the mind. Mindfulness based approaches can be helpful for reducing stress, improving sleep, managing low mood and improving focus and concentration, by helping us bring increased awareness to the here and now.

Surviving Panic

Friday 24 November 11:00-12:00

Panic can be incredibly scary when we’re unsure what’s happening. During this workshop we will explore what panic at an introductory level and aim to develop your understanding of the physical and psychological impact. We will also begin to consider some coping strategies that you can utilise to cope with panic day to day.
