How to make a good start in Leeds

Have somewhere to stay and know how to access money

Many of you will have already arranged permanent accommodation before they arrive, but if you still haven’t found a place to stay it’s important that you arrange your accommodation as soon as possible.

Find out how to open a bank account in the UK. It can take weeks to open a bank account, so make sure you’re prepared and have money you can access when you arrive in Leeds. As part of international orientation, we’ll host a session completely dedicated to what steps you’ll need to follow to open a bank account, so make sure to attend this talk to find out more.

Attend orientations and join social events

Join our international orientation to find out more about all the opportunities available to you on our campus, in the city and beyond. Our international orientation will give you all the information you need to make the best possible start in Leeds, from reminding what start-up processes you’ll need to complete to providing you with a week-long programme of talks, tours and social events to help you meet new people and make friends.

Attend your school orientation to find out more about important information related to your course, as well as opportunities available in your school.

Get involved with what Leeds has to offer

Joining our orientation events is the best way to find out more about how you can make the most of your time in Leeds but don’t forget that there are many other opportunities available to you throughout the year to meet people and make friends.
