Declaring to the University

Information about disability is not used when considering academic eligibility for the chosen programme of study.  Applicants are invited to indicate their disability status on their application form and we strongly encourage applicants to declare any disability.

We can then work with you to make adjustments to your learning and teaching, and so that we can set up your support and exam arrangements.

You can tell us about your disability in a number of ways:

  • On your application form (e.g. UCAS application)
  • By contacting us and letting us know

Declaring a disability does not affect your application The University will treat all applicants fairly and not discriminate unlawfully on grounds of their age; disability; gender; gender identity; pregnancy or maternity status; race; religion or belief; or sexual orientation.

Please note; when you provide your access information to Disability Services, this is only used for the purpose of setting up any relevant academic support or reasonable adjustments to academic study. If you are planning to live in University owned accommodation and your disability is likely to have an impact on which accommodation will be suitable for you, you will need to contact the Accommodation Office to discuss this. You can contact them directly by emailing, by telephoning 0113 343 7777 or by going to one of the counters at the Student Services Centre.
