About Languages for All
Languages for All gives undergraduate students the opportunity to learn a language as part of their degree.
Our Languages for All modules offer undergraduate students the chance to develop their language skills and improve their cultural awareness. You can use your Discovery module credits to enrol onto our 10 and 20 credit language modules. We offer students the opportunity to study:
- French
- German
- Italian
- Japanese
- Korean
- Mandarin Chinese
- Spanish
- Thai
You could study a language that’s completely new to you or continue with a language you’ve studied before. We offer five language levels from complete beginner to advanced.
Modules develop the four skills of reading, listening, speaking and writing – but the emphasis is on developing your confidence in using the language.
Our classes are small and usually have a maximum of 18 students in a group. This enables the learning environment to be interactive and to have a more personal engagement with your tutor and classmates.
As a Languages for All student you will have access to resources, support and updates on our Languages for All Minerva pages. You can also make use of the Language Zone which has computer clusters, books, magazines and multimedia resources to help you study a language. The Language Zone has resources in 50 languages and is open to all students at the University whether or not they are formally studying a language.
