Writing Back is an award-winning letter writing project which pairs international postgraduates and School of English undergraduates with older residents across Yorkshire to help tackle loneliness and social isolation.
Loneliness is an issue for many older people, especially those with limited mobility; equally, many university students may experience homesickness or a desire to better connect with others.
The Writing Back project matches pen pals based on their interests. They write to each other regularly and have the opportunity to meet in person at a Writing Back social event.
Writing Back Leeds is part of the wider Writing Back model founded by Dr Georgina Binnie: www.writingback.co.uk
