When to arrive in Leeds

Arriving in Leeds in good time is important to help you settle in and make a successful start.

Our recommended arrival dates will help you plan your journey to Leeds so you arrive at the best time to:

  • Arrive and settle into your accommodation – check when you can move into your accommodation and plan what you’ll need to do once you arrive, such as collecting your keys and arranging any essentials.
  • Make the most of our International orientation programme (international students) and Welcome Week (all students) – join talks, campus tours and events to start settling in Leeds.
  • Attend essential school inductions – don’t miss your introduction to your academic programme.

Arrival dates

Students arriving in September

If you’re a new international student, we recommend you arrive from 10 September.

This will allow you to attend International orientation in person from 14 September.

Postgraduate researchers

If you’re a new postgraduate researcher, your graduate school will contact you with details on when to arrive. If you’re not able to arrive in Leeds before the start of your programme, contact your graduate school to discuss your options.

International postgraduate researchers can also join  International orientation from 14 September.

What to do if you will be early or delayed

  • If you need to arrive early, check our arriving at your accommodation page for information on how to request early arrival accommodation and other considerations to keep in mind.
  • If you will be arriving late – find out more about what to do if your arrival is delayed. Follow our steps to make sure you inform the University of your travelling plans.
