When to arrive in Leeds

Arriving in Leeds in good time is important to help you settle in and make a successful start.

Our recommended arrival dates will help you plan your journey to Leeds so you arrive at the best time to: 

  • Arrive and settle into your accommodation – check when you can move into your accommodation and plan what you’ll need to do once you arrive, such as collecting your keys and arranging any essentials. 
  • Make the most of our International orientation programme (international students) and Fresh Start festival (all students). Join online webinars, in-person talks, campus tours and events to start settling in Leeds. 
  • Attend essential school inductions – don’t miss your introduction to your academic programme. 

Arrival dates

Students arriving in January

If you’re an international study abroad student, we recommend you arrive from 21 January 2026.

This will allow you to attend International orientation in person from 23 January to make the best possible start in Leeds.

Postgraduate researchers

If you’re a new postgraduate researcher, your graduate school will contact you with details on when to arrive. If you’re not able to arrive in Leeds before the start of your programme, contact your graduate school to discuss your options.

What to do if you will be early or delayed
