Transcription services

Established over 20 years ago, the RNIB and the University of Leeds Transcription Centre specialise in academic transcription for University students affected by sight loss and other disabilities.

Find out who is eligible to use the Transcription Centre, how to access their services and the various formats into which they can transcribe information.

What is transcription?

Transcription involves converting printed information into a range of accessible formats for those who are unable, or who find it difficult, to read standard text.

Why do we offer transcription?

As a student or staff member affected by sight loss or other disability we, like other educational establishments and training providers, have a duty under the Equality Act to make reasonable adjustments to ensure you have equal access to materials. Providing you with information in an accessible format is key to removing barriers and delivering a fully inclusive educational or employment experience.
