British Conference of Undergraduate Research

The University is affiliated with the British Conference of Undergraduate Research (BCUR), which promotes undergraduate research in all disciplines.

If you’re an undergraduate student, the academic conference is a fantastic opportunity for you to present your research in a friendly environment and learn about exciting research from a huge range of disciplines.

Applications to present at BCUR 2027 are currently closed. Please check back soon for further information.

Dates and location

The British Conference of Undergraduate Research 2027 location and dates will be announced soon.

There will be a range of resources to ensure the enjoyment and safety of delegates, with the infrastructure to adapt planning if needed.

How to get involved

Undergraduate students of all levels are invited to submit papers, posters, workshops and performances to the conference. Applications will open soon.

Once abstract submissions have closed, all abstracts will be reviewed by a panel of reviewers.

Applicants will either be accepted or given the opportunity to review your abstract for resubmission. If you are asked to resubmit, you will be given specific feedback on areas for improvement.

You will be contacted by email with the outcome of your submission. If your abstract is accepted, you will be invited to attend the conference.

Support available from the University

If you would like to get involved with the conference, we can provide:

  • support with your abstract
  • funding to attend the conference (subject to funding approval)
  • training sessions to help prepare for the conference
  • group attendance with peers and staff members.

If you would like advice or support with your abstract, please email the Undergraduate Research Team at ugresearch@leeds.ac.uk
