Leeds University Library Galleries
Based at the heart of campus, in the Parkinson Building, Leeds University Library Galleries offers two unique cultural experiences:

  • The Treasures of the Brotherton Gallery takes visitors on a journey through the University’s renowned special collections of historic books and manuscripts, displaying highlights such as original material written by the Brontës, stunning medieval manuscripts and rare books from across the globe. Discover how two young girls from Yorkshire fooled the world with fairies in a new exhibition at the Treasures of the Brotherton gallery. Visit the Cottingley Fairies: A Study in Deception exhibition and explore the secrets behind the greatest hoax of the twentieth century.
  • The Stanley & Audrey Burton Gallery is an oasis of calm, art and inspiration. It offers innovative temporary exhibitions and displays treasures from the University Art Collection, which include stunning examples of European and British painting, drawings and prints, dating from the 17th century up to the present day. Get to know the University’s outstanding art collection through a special exhibition ‘Look Again: Leeds Fine Artists’. Inspired by the art collection, artists from the Leeds Fine Artists group have responded to different artworks, translating their chosen piece into their own media and format. These specially created artworks are on display alongside highlights from the University Art Collection including works by Vanessa Bell, Ivon Hitchens and Anthony Gross.

Both Galleries are free and open to all – no need to book. Open Tuesday – Friday, 11am – 2pm.
