Come along to our Leeds & You events and activities this Spring Break, to meet new people in a relaxed and informal setting. 

Spring Break runs from Saturday 23 March until Sunday 21 April. We know many students will be on campus during the holidays, so we’ve prepared a SWAY which summarises what’s on.

On-Campus Job Opportunity

Internation Student Office are searching for a Global Community Projects Assistant for the 2024-25 academic year. 

This is a placement year opportunity, open to second or penultimate year undergraduate students.

World Unite Festival

Meet people and get involved

Monthly Mature & Younger Mature Student Meet-Ups, Facilitated by the Lifelong Learning Centre 

First Wednesday of the month 12:15 – 13:45 (locations vary). 

Get out and about, explore different spaces across campus each month and meet other mature & younger mature students from across the University and staff from the Lifelong Learning Centre. Light refreshments and good (hopefully!) conversation provided. Feel free to bring your lunch! Upcoming dates: Wednesday 1 May, Wednesday 5 June. Check the mature students newsletter and Mature & Younger Mature Hub (MS Teams) for locations. 

Global Cafe 

Global Cafe takes place in Common Ground at Leeds University Union, from 17:30-19:30 every Monday evening (excluding UK bank holidays). It’s a chance to meet new people, have great conversations and enjoy free refreshments together. No booking needed, just drop in.  

Student Success Stands  

Do you have a question about the academic side of university life? Chat to friendly advisors at Student Success Stands and help yourself to free tea and cake. You can find out more about academic skills support, academic personal tutoring, and navigating information in your school or faculty. Locations include LUU foyer, Laidlaw Library, Health Sciences Library, Brotherton Library, Esther Simpson Cafe, Cafe Nero in LUBS, Worsley Airport Lounge (Level 7) and 1915 Cafe in the William Bragg Building. Check upcoming dates and drop in during a convenient time (no booking required). If you have a question but can’t make it to any of the upcoming slots, email studentsuccess@leeds.ac.uk 

Leeds International Concert Series 

Check details for upcoming student showcases where you can enjoy performances from students within the School of Music, as well as concerts from visiting musicians from around the world. Did you know there are free lunchtime concerts on campus on Fridays? These run from 13:05-13:55, and if you can’t make it during the day, there are many more concerts in the evenings too.  

Sustainability events 

Wildlife wanders, litter picks and more give you the chance to meet others and engage in our local community. 

University Buddy Scheme 

Whether you’re new to Leeds or returning to campus, apply for the Buddy scheme! The scheme is open to all students and you can apply at any point during your student journey. You'll be matched with a new or returning student from anywhere in the University at the same study level as you who has similar interest, giving you the opportunity to get to know someone new who you might not otherwise meet.

Get Out Get Active 

Get Out, Get Active is a fantastic programme of activity giving you the chance to try out a range of fun and sociable healthy activities, both on campus and in the stunning local countryside. This programme is great for making friends and boosting your wellbeing. Try climbing, walking, running and exercise classes. 

Wellbeing Support 

Free, beginner friendly exercise classes take place in LUU every week during term time. Join a group of students and take part in a movement session together to maintain and improve your wellbeing. Choose from Wellbeing Pilates Wellbeing Circuits or Wellbeing Yoga. Book online to secure a place.

Residence Life events 

If you’re living in University accommodation then you’ve got access to events and activities throughout the year organised by the Residence Life team. These events give you the chance to try new activities, learn new skills and meet other people with similar interests. There’s also a Residence Life Social Committee at every halls. These committees are run by residents of each accommodation and organise events for everyone in their halls!

Free LinkedIn Learning access for students at Leeds 

As a student at Leeds, you have free access to over 21,000 LinkedIn Learning courses so that you can learn new skills, improve career prospects and support your learning. Watch high-quality and professional courses led by experts at a time that suits you. You can even watch on the go with the LinkedIn Learning mobile app. Read our LinkedIn Learning guide for students to find out how to activate your free account and explore recommended courses in a guide for students.  

Student Counselling and Wellbeing Webinars 

Wellbeing Webinars take place on Class Collaborate every Wednesday during term time (12:00-13:00) and cover a range of topics relevant to student life. The sessions have been designed for you to share your ideas anonymously via the keyboard, if you wish. Sign-up for Wellbeing Webinars opens a week in advance of each session and you can book a place via the Student Counselling and Wellbeing Hub. The webinars will not be recorded and participants do not connect with their own video or audio during the sessions. Event information  

NEW Mature & Younger Mature Student Hub (MS Teams) 

Mature & Younger Mature Undergraduate students have been added into the new MS Teams Hub, bringing our large community of almost 2000 mature and younger mature students* at Leeds together! The Hub is a one stop shop for communications, events, support and resources specifically relevant to Mature students (those aged 21 or over when starting their Undergraduate course.)  

Eligible students can access the new Hub here or watch this short video for navigating into the Hub. Keep an eye on posts being made in the coming weeks and months to see how you can be involved.

Come along to our Leeds & You events and activities which we will be running throughout the year, to meet new people in a relaxed and informal setting.

  • Our student-led events and activities will help you meet other students and postgraduate researchers, while taking part in activities on and off campus.
  • Join our events on your own or bring your friends along. Our student hosts will be there to support you and make sure that you feel welcome. 
  • The majority of our Leeds & You events are free.
